Samasata Junction is located 7.5 miles(12km) from Bahawalpur on the North Western Railway - Lahore-Karachi Mainline ‘Lodhran to Rohri section’. This line opened 1878 by Indus Valley State Railway(IVSR), which became NWR 1886,
Samasata Station was the terminus of the 'Delhi-Samasata Railway' which was part of the 'Southern Punjab Railway'
