A Staff Corps is one of the three "pools" of officers into which the Presidency Armies of India were divided from which the officer could be allocated to a regiment as required. In 1903, the Staff Corps system was revoked in favour of the earlier system, used by the East India Company, of an officer's more or less permanent attachment to a single regiment.
