The Sutlej Valley Railway was opened in 1910 as part of Sutlej Valley Irrigation project. The line was constructed and worked by Southern Punjab Railway
The Kasur-Lodhran Railway section - ‘However from 1914 onwards, owing to the First World War, which caused financial strigencyt, developments of railways stagnated....in order to meet the necessities of the military authorities the Sutlej Valley Railway, from Kasur to Lodharan, with 208 miles of track, was dismantled in 1917.[1] [2]
