- 1794 raised as 36th Madras Native Infantry
- 1798 became 2nd Battalion, 13th Madras Native Infantry
- 1824 became 26th Madras Native Infantry
- 1885 became 26th Madras Infantry
- 1903 became 86th Carnatic Infantry
- 1922 became 10th/3rd Madras Regiment
- 1947 allocated to India on Partition
