- 1786 became the 23rd Bengal Native Infantry
- 1796 became the 2nd Battalion, 9th Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry
- 1824 became the 21st Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry
- 1861 became the 1st Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry
- 1901 became the 1st Brahman Infantry
- 1903 became the 1st Brahmans
- 1922 united with 62nd Punjabis, 66th Punjabis, 76th Punjabis, 82nd Punjabis, and 84th Punjabis and became 4th/1st Punjab Regiment
- 1931 disbanded
