Chronology
- 1757 raised as the 2nd Battalion of Bengal Native Infantry
- 1762 commanded by Captain Tabby
- 1763 destroyed at the Battle of Manjee 1st July
Capt Tabby took command at Manjee when Capt Carstairs was wounded. He was taken prisoner and was among 51 killed at Patna on 5 October 1763. In 1764 a replacement battalion was raised as the Burdwan Battalion. This became the 2nd Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry in 1824.
