Chronology
- 1795 raised as the Marine Battalion
- 1803 became the 1st Battalion 20th Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry
- 1824 became the 25th Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry
- 1857 disbanded
In 1861, after the mutiny, the title was given to the 17th Regiment of Punjab Infantry which later became the 25th Regiment of Punjab Infantry.
