General SirThomas Willshire Bart KCB (1789–1862) was a British soldier who went to India in 1822 as a brevet major in the 38th Regiment of Foot. He was made a major in the 46th Regiment of Foot] and took part in the recapture of the fort at Kitoor in 1824. In 1838 with the local rank of brigadier-general he commanded the Bombay brigade of the Army of the Indus for the invasion of Afghanistan. He was at the Storming of Ghazni and went on to Kabul. Returning he was in command for the [[Capture of Kalat 1839|Capture of Khelat.
