Raipur was the headquarters of Raipur District in the Chhattisgarh Division of Central Provinces during the British period.
It was a station on the Bengal-Nagpur Railway and was part of the Central Provinces. It was also on the narrow gauge branch line Raipur-Dhamtari Railway
