The '''Santahar-Kaunia Loop Railway'''was a metre gauge([[Rail_gauge_#Metre_Gauge|MG]]) line that was completed in 1905 becoming part of the [[Eastern Bengal Railway]](EBR) network.
Formerly part The original section from [[Santahar]] to [[Bonapara]], a distance of 51 miles(82km), opened in 1899-1900 as the[[Brahmaputra-Sultanpur Railway]], being worked by [[Eastern Bengal Railway]](qvEBR). On 1st April 1904, amalgamated with EBRthe Government of India(qv[[Government of India |GoI]]), 1904 took over the enterprise and Phulchari Branch(qv)the line became the first part of the EBR's '''Santahar-Kaunia Loop Railway''' when the system was extended from [[Bonapara]] to [[Kaunia]] in 1905.<ref>Indian Railway Raj Safari 1a - Keith Scholey</ref>
