Owned by the State of [[Princely states|Princely ]][[Cooch BeharState]], it was worked by the [[Eastern Bengal Railway]]. In 1910 the The line was converted extended northward to the border with British Territory in 1900 and to metre gauge[[Jainti]] in the foothills of the Eastern Himalayas in 1901.
