Comment
the 'Goalundo-Narayanganj Extension Railway Survey' had been undertaken by the Eastern Bengal Railway(EBR) during the period 1894-98. The record states “the object of connecting Calcutta with the Assam-Bengal Railway”. The line was not constructed and is a previous failure to provide a connection to East Bengal

A further survey was undertaken in 1906 to connect this proposed line to the proposed Hajiganj-Shatnal Railway - see separate page. This line also was not constructed.

Even today the railway stops at Goalundo Ghat Station, a short distance from the ferry terminal at Daulatdia crossing to Paturia on the opposite bank of the Ganges.
