Just a though - Maybe we should add the current districts as well to present details. Given that there have been so many changes, it might be easier for people to location them if they have this info as well. regards [[User:Rzafar|Rzafar]] 05:57, 6 November 2009 (PST)

Hello Hugh. Rabia (Rzafar) has just made amendments to six Location pages and I was about to put a comment on his Discussion page when I saw a post from you to him on links in November 2009.  In Lahore Fort, for example, he has altered the internal links for Punjab and Pakistan in the Location info box to external (Wikipedia) links. As you have told him to do this, I thought I would make the comments to you.
I believe we established some time ago with the Battle Info Box (I know I discussed it with Sarah) that generally for Battle pages we link to our page on the place to our page on the province and country. Our pages on the province or country will then have the external link. This means visitors will not miss the information we have on our pages for these places. The principle was that we should drill down as far as we can in the Fibiwiki and only then go externally.
I have followed this through on the hundreds of Location pages I have edited. The problem is that the Location Info Box says Present Day Details. Now on the Lahore Fort page the visitor will not be directed to all the information we have painstakingly collected on our pages on Lahore (city), Lahore District, Punjab and Pakistan. This must be a pity.
Before Rabia undoes the internal links further, could you please discuss this with the other moderators and let me know the confirmed policy? Thanks.--[[User:Symorsebrown|Sy]] 11:07, 15 August 2010 (UTC)
:Thanks for your interim reply Hugh. If the decision is that the Location Info Box is to remain for Present Day Details, I feel that the internal links should be provided on the body of the page not just erased. My discussion with Sarah was probably by separate e-mail and is just history. The important thing is to get a clear fresh statement of our policy. How to interpret box

No problem, will do. I'll get back to you tomorrow. I'm glad that Agra map was able to be used. Fixing the names of the railway stations in Agra is on my to do list - I'm going to match up the stations on my 1911 map with the names on that map. I'll get around to doing it soon! Internal/external links

Thanks.--Sy 11:07, 15 August 2010 (UTC)
