Chronology
- 1849 raised as 3rd Regiment of Punjab Cavalry
- 1851 retitled the 3rd Regiment of Cavalry, Punjab Irregular Force
- 1861 became the 3rd Punjab Cavalry, Punjab Frontier Force
- 1903 became the 23rd Cavalry (Frontier Force)
- 1922 merged with the 21st Cavalry to become 11th Prince Albert Victor's Own Cavalry (Frontier Force)
- 1927 became Prince Albert Victor’s Own Cavalry (11th Frontier Force)
- 1947 allocated to Pakistan on partition
- 1956 became 11th Cavalry (Frontier Force)
