Originally formed on 29th December 1860 The '''Nagpur Rifles''' (sometimes Nagpore) were a volunteer corps and absorbed the [[Berar Volunteer Rifle Corpsauxiliary regiment]], which was raised on 21st February 1879, on 1st October 1904. Became based in the [[2nd Nagpur RiflesNagpore]] on the 1st April 1917, then the Nagpur Rifles on the 1st October 1926 and the [[Nagpur Regiment]] on 24th December 1927 before reverting back to the designation Nagpur Rifles on the 12th June 1937area.
