Chronology
- 1764 raised at Mooshedabad by Captain Alexander Dow
- 1764 ranked as 18th Battalion
- 1765 posted to the 2nd Brigade
- 1775 renumbered the 12th Battalion of Bengal Native Infantry
- 1781 became the 6th Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry
- 1783 became the 11th Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry
- 1796 became the 1st Battalion 11th Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry
- 1824 became the 16th Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry
- 1857 mutinied at Meean Meer 14 May
In 1861 after the mutiny the title was given to the Regiment of Lucknow later to become 16th (Lucknow) Regiment of Rajput Infantry.
