Chronology
- 1922 formed from amalgamation of six Sikh regiments
- 14th (Ferozepore) Regiment of Sikh Infantry became 1st Battalion
- 15th (Ludhiana) Regiment of Sikh Infantry became 2nd Battalion
- 45th Regiment of Sikh Infantry (Rattray's Sikhs) became 3rd Battalion
- 36th Regiment of Sikh Infantry became 4th Battalion
- 47th Regiment of Sikh Infantry became 5th Battalion
- 35th Regiment of Sikh Infantry became 10th (Training) Battalion
- 1947 allocated to India on Partition becoming the Sikh Regiment.
