- 1778 became 9th Battalion Bombay Sepoys
- 1796 became 2nd Battalion, 2nd Regiment of Bombay Native Infantry
- 1824 became 4th Regiment of Bombay Native Infantry
- 1881 became 4th Regiment Native Infantry (Rifle Corps)
- 1899 became 4th Regiment (1st Battalion Rifle Corps) Bombay Infantry
- 1901 became 4th Bombay Rifles
- 1903 became 104th Wellesley’s Rifles
- 1921 became 1st Battalion 6th Rajputana Rifles Regiment
- 1945 became 1st Battalion Rajputana Rifles
- 1947 allocated to India on Partition
