Chronology
- 1803 raised as Bombay Squadron of Cavalry by Colonel John Murray
- 1803 split into 1st and 2nd Bombay Light Cavalry
- 1842 became 1st Regiment of Bombay Light Cavalry (Lancers)
- 1890 became the 1st (Duke of Connaught's Own) Bombay Lancers
- 1903 became the 31st Duke of Connaught's Own Lancers
- 1947 allocated to Pakistan on Partition
