- 1765 raised as 17th Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry
- 1857 mutinied
In 1861, after the mutiny, the title was given to the Loyal Purbeah Regiment which became the 17th (Loyal Purbeah) Regiment of Bengal Infantry.
