- 1799 raised as 19th Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry following 1796 reorganisation when previous 19th became 2nd Btn 11th Regt
- 1824 1st Battalion became 38th Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry under Major G P Baker
- 1857 mutinied at Delhi 11 May
In 1887 the Agra Levy adopted the name as 38th (Dogra) Regiment of Bengal Infantry later becoming the 38th Regiment of Dogra Infantry
