The Assam Bengal Railway Battalion were an auxiliary regiment. They comprised staff of the Assam-Bengal Railway.

Chronology

  • 1901 formed as Assam-Bengal Railway Volunteer Rifles on 23rd January[1][2]
  • 1917 1st April, became the 42nd Assam Bengal Railway Battalion[1]
  • 1920 1st October, redesignated Assam Bengal Railway Battalion[1]

  • Uniform - Summer: Khaki Drill, Winter: Khaki serge with dark green facings trimmed with silver lace

  • Uniform - Khaki
  • Facings - Green
  • Badge - Bengal tiger encircled by a laurel wreath ensigned by a royal crown
  • Motto - "In Omnia Paratus"
