One rupee coin issued by the East India Company (1835)

The money used in British India was the Rupee, Anna and Pice.

  • 4 pice = 1 Anna
  • 16 Annas = 1 Rupee

Throughout the major part of British India 1 Rupee was roughly equivalent to 2 shillings (10 new pence)
