[xxxxx Thayetmyo]

Thayetmyo, a port on the right (western) bank of the Irrawaddy River, was the headquarters of Thayetmyo District in the Minbu Division of Burma during the British period. A cantonment was built in 1854.

A brief comment that in 1877-8 Thayetmyo was a Frontier Station[1]

Allanmyo situated on the opposite (left) bank of the river, about half an hour upstream by boat, contained extra barrack accommodation for European troops, in case of an epidemic breaking out at Thayetmyo.

Spelling variants

Modern name: Thayetmyo
It is likely that Thayetingo, where British troops were based, is the same place as Thayetmyo, possibly even a incorrect transcription of the name. If not, it seems Thayetingo would be located somewhere in the Thayet District.
