- 1864 became 38th (Agra) Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry
- 1887 became 38th (Dogra) Regiment of Bengal Infantry
- 1901 became 38th Regiment of Dogra Infantry
- 1903 became 38th Dogras
- 1922 became 2nd Battalion 17th Dogra Regiment
- 1947 allocated to India on Partition as The Dogra Regiment
