- 1851 raised as the No 4 Horse Light Field Battery, Punjab Irregular Force at Haripur from Hazara gunners that were trained by Major Abbot to defend the Hazara District
- 1876 became the 4th Hazara Mountain Battery
- 1903 became the 24th Hazara Mountain Battery (Frontier Force)
- 1920 became the 24th Hazara Pack Battery (Frontier Force)
- 1921 became the 104th (Hazara) Pack Battery
- 1922 became the 104th (Hazara) Pack Battery (Frontier Force)
- 1924 became part of the Royal Regiment of Artillery as the 104th (Hazara) Pack Battery R.A. (F.F.)
- 1927 became the 4th (Hazara) Indian Mountain Battery, R.A. (F.F.)
- 1928 became the 4th (Hazara) Mountain Battery, R.A. (F.F.)
- 1939 became the 4th Hazara Mountain Battery F.F.
- 1947 allocated to India
