- 1766 raised at Bankypore as the 24th Battalion of Bengal Native Infantry under Captain Jacob Carnac
- 1775 ranked as 14th Battalion of Bengal Native Infantry
- 1779 became the 15th Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry
- 1781 became the 15th Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry
- 1795 mutinied over overseas service.
