• 1801 raised as the Ceylon Native Infantry from Sinhalese and later some Madras sepoys
• 1803 2nd Battalion formed of Malays from Ceylon and Cochin
• 1804 2nd Battalion became Charles Baillie's Regiment of Foot
• 1807 became the 2nd Ceylon Regiment
• 1822 disbanded
