Richard Pearson (1838/9-1859) was an uncle of the famous statistician Karl Pearson (1857-1936).

His epitaph in Crambe churchyard reads as follows:


RICHARD PEARSON YOUNGEST SON OF THOMAS PEARSON DIED OF JUNGLE FEVER ON HIS VOYAGE FROM CALCUTTA TO LONDON 6TH MARCH 1859 IN HIS 21ST YEAR AND WAS BURIED AT SEA

We know from other sources that he died on the Agamemnon.
