Summary
In memory of John Arthur Campbell Hennessy Lieutenant Indian Staff Corps, double company officer 45th (Rattrays) Sikhs; only son of John B. N. Hennessy (Survey of India.) and Eliza his wife; who while gallantly leading his men in action against Mahsud Waziris near Jandola, N.W. Frontier, fell, in the flower of his Youth, mortally wounded, and died instantly; 23rd October 1900; only 21 years of age. A devoted and daring soldier, his career, though short, gave high promise of success and distinction. and, God fearing, most loving and dearly loved, he was a treasured son; whose untimely death, lamented beyond earthly solace, is yet softened by cherished memories of his sterling and rare worth, and by the steadfast hope of joining him in his eternal home. “Thy will be done.”
