  • 1887 raised as 37th (Dogra) Bengal Infantry
  • 1901 became 37th Dogra Infantry
  • 1903 became 37th Dogras
  • 1921 became 37th (Princess of Wales's Own) Dogras
  • 1922 became 1st Battalion (Princess of Wales's Own) 17th Dogra Regiment
  • 1947 allocated to India on Partition
