- 1786 raised from extra companies of the old corps as 33rd Battalion
- 1796 absorbed by the 8th Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry
- 1824 1st Battalion became 9th Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry under Major E H Simpson; 2nd Battalion became 24th Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry under Major W D Playfair
