The Raipur-Dhamtari Railway was a short 2ft 6in/762mm narrow gauge(NG) line.
Opened in 1900 connecting Raipur via Kurud to Dhamtari, a length of 35 miles(56km) ; extended in 1909 with the opening of the Rajim Branch Railway, a branch from Abhanpur Junction connecting to Rajim, 11 miles(18km).The line formed part of the Bengal-Nagpur Railway(BNR) network. [1].
At Kurud, in 1924-25, an interchange was made to the 2ft/610mm narrow gauge(NG) Raipur Forestry Tramway operated on behalf of the Forestry Department of Central Provinces.
