Known as 4th Rajputs

Chronology

  • 1824 formed as 33rd Bengal Native Infantry from 2nd Battalion 16th Regiment of Bengal Infantry
  • 1861 became 4th Bengal Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry
  • 1890 became 4th (Prince Albert Victor's) Bengal Infantry
  • 1897 became 4th (Prince Albert Victor's) Rajput Regiment, Bengal Infantry
  • 1901 became 4th (Prince Albert Victor's) Rajput Infantry
  • 1922 became 2nd Battalion 7th Rajput Regiment
  • 1947 allocated to India on Partition and renamed the Rajput Regiment
