- 1769 became 10th Carnatic Battalion
- 1770 became 9th Carnatic Battalion
- 1784 became 9th Madras Battalion
- 1796 became 1st Battalion, 9th Madras Native Infantry
- 1824 became 9th Madras Native Infantry
- 1885 became 9th Madras Infantry
- 1903 became 69th Punjab Regiment
- 1922 became 2nd/2nd Punjab Regiment
- 1947 allocated to India on Partition
