Chronology

  • 1804 raised as the 45th Regiment of Madras Native Infantry
  • 1862 disbanded

In 1864, after the Indian Mutiny, the Bengal Military Police Battalion took name of 45th (Rattray's Sikh) Bengal Native Infantry. This regiment later became the 45th Regiment of Sikh Infantry (Rattray's Sikhs).
