Chronology

  • 1765 raised as 16th Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry
  • 1857 mutinied at Meean Meer 14 May

In 1861 after the mutiny the title was given to the Regiment of Lucknow later to become 16th (Lucknow) Regiment of Rajput Infantry
