Chronology

  • 1797 raised as 28th Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry
  • 1857 mutinied at Shahjahanpur mid June

In 1861, after the mutiny, the title was given to the 20th Regiment of Punjab Infantry which later became the 28th Regiment of Punjab Infantry.
