11th Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry

Chronology
- 1763 raised in Calcutta by Captain Gilbert Ironside
- 1764 ranked as 10th Battalion under Captain William Smith
- 1765 posted to the 2nd Brigade
- 1775 renumbered the 9th Battalion of Bengal Native Infantry
- 1781 became the 9th Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry
- 1796 became the 1st Battalion 9th Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry
- 1824 became the 8th Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry
- 1857 mutinied at Meerut 10 May
In 1861 after the mutiny the title was given to the 70th Bengal Native Infantry which later became 11th Regiment of Rajput Infantry
