Chronology
- 1798 raised as 2nd Battalion 15th Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry in the 1796 reorganisation
- 1824 became 31st Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry under Major C H Lloyd
- 1857 mutinied
In 1861, after the mutiny, the title was given to the 31st Regiment of Punjab Infantry.
