The Assam Bengal Railway Battalion were an auxiliary regiment. They comprised staff of the Assam-Bengal Railway.

- 1901 formed as Assam-Bengal Railway Volunteer Rifles on 23rd January[1][2]
- 1917 1st April, became the 42nd Assam Bengal Railway Battalion[1]
- 1920 1st October, redesignated Assam Bengal Railway Battalion[1]
