Chronology

1838 raised as Oudh Auxiliary Force Cavalry for service with the King of Oudh
1844 transferred to the Bengal Army as 6th Irregular Cavalry
1861 reorganised as the 4th Bengal Cavalry
1900 became the 4th Bengal Lancers
1903 became the 4th Lancers
1904 became the 4th Cavalry
1922 absorbed by the 2nd Lancers (Gardner's Horse)
