Trichinopoly-Pudukkottai Railway
The Trichinopoly-Pudukkottai Railway was a metre gauge(MG) line first proposed by Pudukkottai Durbar in 1906 to connect Trichinopoly with Pudukkottai and Tondi on the east coast some 83 miles(133km) away. [1]
The project was repeatedly considered and shelved. [2].
A railway linking Trichinopoly and Karaikkudi in Madura district and passing through Pudukkottai was completed in March 1926 as part of the South Indian Railway(SIR) network. [3] The Trichinopoly to Pudukkottai, a length of 32 miles(51km) had been sanctioned for construction by the SIR in August 1916 [4]
