  • 1857 raised as Wale's Horse by Capt F Wale
  • 1857 became 1st Sikh Irregular Cavalry (Wale's Horse)
  • 1860 became 1st Sikh Irregular Cavalry (Probyn's Horse)
  • 1861 became 11th Bengal Cavalry
  • 1864 became 11th Bengal Cavalry (Lancers)
  • 1864 became 11th Bengal Lancers
  • 1876 became 11th (Prince of Wales's Own) Bengal Lancers
  • 1903 became 11th Prince of Wales's Own Lancers
  • 1906 became 11th King Edward's Own Lancers (Probyn's Horse)
  • 1921 merged with 12th Cavalry to become 11th/12th Cavalry
  • 1922 became 5th King Edward's Own Probyn's Horse
  • 1927 became Probyn's Horse (5th King Edward's Own Lancers)
  • 1947 allocated to Pakistan on Partition
