Chronology

  • 1804 raised as 2nd Btn 27th Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry following 1796 reorganisation when previous 27th was absorbed by 3rd Regiment
  • 1824 2nd Battalion became 54th Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry under Major M Thomas
  • 1857 mutinied at Delhi 11 May
