Ghilzai tribesmen threatened to cut communications between [[Kabul]] and [[Kandahar]] and they were confronted by a force sent by General [[William Nott|Maj Gen Sir William Nott]] . The initial party under Capt A W Taylor was reinforced by a detachment under Capt W Anderson. They united at Naurak and confronted the Ghilzais at Tazee on 16 May.
