Originally constituted on 18th December 1925 when the [[I. (Calcutta) Field Brigade]] and the [[V. (Cossipore) Field Brigade]] amalgamated.
The [[Cossipore Artillery]] became the [[Cossipore Brigade]] on 1st February 1884. Reorganised 7th September 1888 as the [[Cossipore Artillery Volunteers]] and later became [[I. (Cossipore) Brigade Mobile Artillery]] on the 1st April 1917. Then reconstituted on the 1st October 1920 as the [[IV. (Cossipore) Field Brigade]].
