Between 1898 and 1905 the remodelling of the storm water outfall for [[Calcutta|Calcutta's]] was undertaken by [[Martin's Light Railways|Martin & Co.Company]]. The project included a new town high level 8 feet(2.4 mtr) diameter sewer, a roadway 30 feet(9.1 mtr) wide over it and a combined sewerage channel for both city and suburban sewers with the necessary sluices, bridges, siphons etc.<ref name=WB104/>
