Both these books were later reprinted under the title ''Soldiers of the Raj''. The author is stated to be Olive Crofton, wife of a Civil Servant, and there is reference in the Introduction to "the husband of the writer". Crofton, in the Introduction, also mentions that the numbers killed by tigers and other animals of the jungle “is considerably larger than would appear from the lists”.
