*The censuses for England, Wales and Scotland to 1911 are generally available online on [[findmypast]] and Ancestry, and probably other genealogical websites, with the exception of the 1911 Census of Scotland which appears to be only available on [http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/content/help/index.aspx?r=554&2064 ScotlandsPeople]. Children, whose parents are in India. may be shown to be at school in Britain.

*A list of individuals that are recorded on the 1881 UK [England, Scotland, Wales] census as born in India/East Indies can be found on [http://www.search.fibis.org/frontis/bin/aps_browse_sources.php?mode=browse_components&id=127&s_id=132 FIBIS Search]. There are over 22,000 names, transcribed by Valmay S. Young. Please note this is not an Indian census. All the individuals were in the UK in 1881.
*A list of individuals recorded in the 1841-1871 UK [England, Scotland, Wales] census as born in India/East Indies can be found at [http://spuddybike.org.uk/familyhistory/census/index.html People born in India and Burma as recorded in the UK Census's 1841-1871] As above, these are individuals resident in the UK at the time of the UK census. The list does not include residents of Scotland for 1841.
